De Jong has been a stand-out player for Barcelona over the three years he has been at the club. Barca’s recent financial turmoil and the sudden rise of wonderkids Pedri and Gavi, has, however, thrown his future up in the air. The Netherlands international joined Barca from Ajax for a fee of around £64million. This came just after their astonishing Champions League run in the 2018/19 season.
Since joining the club, the midfielder has appeared 140 times in all competitions, contributing to a total of 30 goals. These comprise of 13 strikes and 17 assists.
Due to Barcelona’s recent financial troubles, however, the 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Spanish giants.

During the meeting, he handed over a €55 million offer from Manchester United.
The offer is far from Lotito’s €80 million valuation and so he turned down the offer. The two parties remain in constant contact, however, and Kezman is confident that an offer of €65-70 million would prove convincing enough. More meetings will take place over the coming weeks.
Nunez contact made as Neves hands United boost
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer as they look to rebuild their squad for their new era under Erik ten Hag, and it has been reported that they have "initiated" contact with the Uruguayan.
