Marvel has Vision & Patience.Patience:
Marvel had patience and they were on-point in building their characters. They wanted to show the world what the character’s true philosophy is and how they behave. We comic fanatics knows what the character’s philosophy is. But delivering it to the people who are not? That’s a hard sale.
The difference between the Marvel & DC Cinematic universe is patience. Marvel took time to explain things starting with Iron Man to Black Panther all leading up-to the final battle (Which obviously is not at all a final one) in Avengers Infinity War. They took almost more that 3 hours to explain each & every characters that took part in the fight.
Vision:
One could even define each & every character of MCU and how they evolved in one exact sentence.
Remember the conversation between Iron Man & Captain America in Avengers?
Steve Rogers: Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?
Tony Stark: Genius billionaire playboy philanthropist.
We all agree to that right. Iron Man is not about the suit, he is cursed with knowledge. It beats any odd in any battle (Apparently not Thanos).
Eg: Like a scene from Civil War, Cap started to beat the crap out of Iron Man. Now, Iron Man to Friday: Analyze his fighting pattern. (Friday is his Artificial Intelligence enabled Personal Assistant) Suddenly the punches were predicted & Iron Man gives Cap the Creeps (Goosebumps)
And now remember the conversation between the holographic Secretory Ross and Captain America in Infinity War. Where Cap said,
Earth just lost her best defender!
And we exactly knew who Cap is referring to. It took more that ten movies to build & evolve the character of Iron Man, I believe he is the most important superhero to MCU. (Not that obvious 24 hour marathon Marvel fans before the release of new movie kind does not know such references).
It takes vision to achieve that. Kevin Feige is a God. Literally He is a God.
Not convinced? Let’s take Wakanda for instance. They made us to believe Wakanda is real (After the Black Panther movie my friend said he could not find it on maps). During Infinity war final fight sequence when the Black Panther says Wakanda Forever, the whole theatre erupts.
And those hints at Post-Credits & Mid-Credits. Man! Who waits for the credits to roll up completely? Marvel made sure us to wait.
Without Vision & Patience one can’t achieve that.
DC Universe
Now to DC Universe (Beam Me Up!):
I have a lot of questions regarding the DCEU! Do you know the real full name of the characters in Justice League? Apart from the same old Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, Louis Lane (Not for the comic fanatics, We all know who Lex Luther is and what he is capable of). I have seen Justice League twice but I forgot the name of the Villan in the movie. On the other hand the whole Universe (Not just our world) knows Thanos, even a 8 year old kid.
Casting:
I know for a fact half of the world knows Wonder Woman just because of Gal Gadot. Casting is too important especially for a superhero movie. Robert Downey Junior is a prime example. I thought the soul purpose of RDJ born on this earth is to take up the Iron Man role and to lead The Avengers. I can’t think of anyone better than him. We could go on like this regarding the casting for the MCU movies forever. But in DC case, I can’t digest the fact Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg) is a nerdy kid (facepalm).
When it comes to The Batman, I agree with Batman Trilogy and the success it had. But you could sense the difference between Christian Bale as Batman & Ben Affleck as Batman. Why the former was a super-hit? Nolan’s portrayal of the character was mind-blowing and true to the core. I myself a die-hard DC fan when it comes to the comic, But even more than a fan to Marvel Cinematic Universe. They won me over the same principle that Nolan did flawlessly.
CHARACTER PORTRAYAL.
What happened to the Batman who does not like guns & not joking around. In Justice League Batman is a Joker (Not that Harley Quinn Joker, the one that tells sarcastic jokes), That is Sick.
Hope DC work on it and give Marvel a tough competition. But, I don’t see that happening in a long time.
Because, The whole world eagerly awaits for Avenger 4 not for Justice League 2. There’s a reason for that.
